TEC-FEC Joint Statement
A joint statement by a committee of the Executive Committees of the Trustees and the faculty issued the following statement at the end of November. The statement was repudiated by faculty on Dec 14, 1999.
1. The Albright College Trustee Executive Committee (TEC) has shared with the Faculty Executive Committee (FEC), information from the Presidential Search Committee (Search Committee), trustees and other sources, pertaining to the issues raised in The Chronicle of Higher Education concerning the academic credentials of Albright College's President Dr. Henry Zimon. After examination of this information, the TEC and the FEC agree that the search process was extensive and detailed in the examination of the resume of Dr. Zimon, who was honest and forthcoming in explaining all relevant aspects of his resume. The TEC and the FEC do not, in any way, question Dr. Zimon's personal or professional integrity. 2. The TEC shared with the FEC the detailed explanation provided by Dr. Zimon to the Search Committee concerning his resume entries. The Search Committee previously had issued Dr. Zimon's resume without this attendant detail, which raised the questions that became the subject of this joint sharing of information from the TEC to the FEC. 3. The FEC and TEC regret that the college, its extended community, Dr. Zimon and his family, and the Search Committee have been subjected to public embarrassment by the introduction of this issue into the public domain.
4.
The TEC and the FEC support the Joint Statement.
