The Associated Press moved stories based on the Chronicle article on Friday Oct 15 as well as Saturday, Oct 16. "The newest president of Albright College in Reading has come under attack by faculty members who say he may have lied about his academic credentials to get hired," the story reported. Zimon failed to return Aps calls for comments.
The story reported that the questions involved Zimon's resume. "In it, he claims to have written a forthcoming book to be published in 1998-99 from Praeger, a division of the Greenwood Publishing Group. Zimon also states he is editing another book with R. James Woolsey, the Central Intelligence Agency's director from 1993 to 1995.
"But Peter Kracht, the publisher at Praeger, and John Harney, the company's freelance acquisitions editor, said they had not published any book of Zimon's, the Chronicle reported. Harney said he had discussed a possible book with Zimon in 1992 but never offered a contract.
Woolsey also denied working on a book with Zimon. "I don't know anything about the book," he told the Chronicle."
